Demo Version of STM Simulation Software Print E-mail

Nanotimes has announced the release of the demo. version of its Nt_STM simulation software, available for free download on http://www.nanotimes-corp.com.

The Nanotimes Nt_STM is a software tool that simulates an STM (Scanning Tunnelling Microscope) experiment or image. The software gives results at constant current or constant height, identical to those of the microscope. Nt_STM calculates the electrical current through any nanometrical system (microscope tip + sample + surface) and simply reproduces the activity of an STM. Nt_STM calculates interactions between atoms and guarantees accuracy and similarity with the experiments’ results.

The nanometrical system is represented by the Extended Hückel method of quantum chemistry. Other more complex theoretical chemistry programs can be integrated to Nt_STM for more specific simulations.

Simply reconstruct your system on the screen, design your tip and surface, input the tip course, launch the simulation and compare the experimental results with your Nt_STM results.

It might therefore prove useful to help you authenticate or forecast your STM results in the following cases:

  • surface treatment,
  • molecule adsorptions,
  • atom deposits,
  • single molecule electron transport,
  • molecular circuit modeling,
  • molecular electronics,
  • etc.

The software is available now for free download at http://www.nanotimes-corp.com/nanoftp. It can be easily installed on a PC (on a Linux/Unix OS) and comes with a comprehensive users guide.

Nanotimes are keen to receive feedback before the release of the commercial version 1.0 in early 2007.
